Flying EVA Air from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei (Review)

I was pretty excited to head back to Taiwan again after 10 years from my first visit to the country — and even more excited when I heard that I was going to fly there on EVA Air. It was my first time flying with the airlines.

Eva Air

EVA Air

Founded in 1989, EVA Air is a Taiwanese international airline based at the Taoyuan International Airport and headquarted in Luzhu, Taoyuan City in Taiwan. It is the second largest Taiwanese airline, servicing over 40 international destinations. The airline is part of Star Alliance; and rated a 5-star airline by Skytrax, who also named EVA Air as the world’s 6th best airlines for 2019.

Kuala Lumpur to Taipei Return

EVA Air offers 3 cabin classes for their flights — Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy. As we were flying from Malaysia, we were on the A330 that only has two classes; the Business Class and Economy. Meals on board were pretty good —  I had the Stir Fried Chicken with Honey Black Pepper Sauce and Rice for our flight from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei; and the Braised Beef in Red Wine Sauce with Potatoes on the flight back. They also offer a good variety of beverages from wines and liquor, to soft drinks, fruits juices and tea. I entertained myself throughout the 6-hour journey with the latest in-flight movies.

Taipei Taoyuan International Airport – EVA Air Lounges

EVA Air flies from Terminal 2 of the Taipei Taoyuan International Airport. After checking-in and going through imigration, we made our way to the airport lounges — we were given access to the Business Class Infinity Lounge. EVA Air has 4 lounges in the Taoyuan Airport — the Garden Lounge, Infinity Lounge, Star Lounge and Club Lounge.

The Infinity Lounge

The Infinity Lounge has a modern design with lots of usage of colorful lights and beams. It provides all dining and beverages — and during our visit in the morning, we had breakfast from the pretty extensive buffet spread. Other amenities in the comfortable lounge included a large seating area (with lots of plug points), shower facilities, reading materials, and a business centre.

My Experience with EVA Air

Overall, I had an enjoyable journey with EVA Air on my flight from Kuala Lumpur to Taipei and return. Service was lovely, seats were comfortable, food and drinks were commendable — and I really enjoyed hanging out at the Infinity Lounge (and having a good buffet breakfast spread) before my flight home.
