Constant traveling has been pretty hard on my skin — especially being under the harsh sun for a prolonged period of time when I’m on the islands and while diving. My skin doesn’t turn red and peel (like most people); instead, it remains an ashy brown, and a little blotchy when I get really burnt. It also doesn’t help that I have a dry skin-type, and the dryness is very noticeable on my face the first few weeks upon my return from traveling. It is all dead skin — and there I am, trying to moisturize over dead skin.
The very first time I visited Sliq Clinic to do the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion, I felt like I was saving my skin. I had just returned home not more than a week from a diving holiday, and my facial skin was suffering the usual sun-caused injuries — dry, flaky, and dull.
Sliq Clinic is an aesthetic medical clinic in Ara Damansara, Selangor, which offers various skin and beauty treatment. It is run by Dr Steve Chia, a qualified physician, who could immediately tell my skin was dry, burnt and in need of lots of tender loving care. He first suggested I try the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion procedure.
The SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion Treatment
Before this, one of the reasons my constant moisturisation to repair my dry skin didn’t work too well was because I had been moisturising the outer layer of dead skin on my face. What the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion treatment does is similar to microdermabrasion, where it removes those outer layers of skin through exfoliation techniques. The difference though, is that the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion doesn’t use abrasive particles (like crystals) that can irritate the skin, and it also gives users the choice of different treatment serums for different skin conditions. It is also painless, non-invasive and without the chances of complications.
The choice of serums cater to specific needs like acne, wrinkles, hydrating, hyperpigmentation and brightening — my skin usually needs a lot of hydration and solutions to remedy my constant exposure to the sun’s UV rays.
Pampering my Skin
My facial treatment usually begins with the normal cleansing process before starting on the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion treatment. The procedure only lasts 20 minutes, and my esthetician is always so gentle as she uses the tool to exfoliate my skin in long strokes. The very first time I did the procedure, she did one side of my face first to allow me to compare the smoothness by touch. And when the treatment was done, she showed me the murky water that was filled with my dead skin. Yes, murky water!
After the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion treatment, my facial pampering process continues with blackhead extraction, a Red Light Therapy Mask treatment, another facial-mask treatment, and ends with moisturisation on my ‘renewed’ skin. It always feels so good at the end of a face pampering session.
My SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion Experience
Despite the slight redness after the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion procedure, my face always feels supple, smooth and well-hydrated. My skin doesn’t need any downtime after the soothing treatment — I can always return to my normal activities at once without having to worry about a blotchy face.
I feel that the SilkPeel™ Dermalinfusion helps me keep my skin as healthy and smooth as possible before and after my travels. It is unavoidable that the sun will still do its damage, and the sea will still sting my skin, and my skin tone will be somewhat uneven — but at least I feel a little better for doing something for my skin to help lessen the effects of environmental damage in the long term.
